How NOT To Lose Weight!

For a long time I lived in the world of yo-yo dieting.

I’d try the latest diet and lose weight but it wasn’t an eating plan I could maintain and when I went off that diet the weight came roaring back. Enter the world of yo-yo weight loss and GAIN!  Sound familiar?

So the answer to “How NOT To Lose Weight” is to latch on to the latest diet you see and treat it as the diet du jour or month. Sure you’ll lose weight but rarely will it stay off.

On January 25, 2015 the New York Post ran an article titled “We’re all fat again”:More “Biggest Loser” contestants reveal secrets.
Here’s a really interesting excerpt…

Producers told The Post, “We stand behind the integrity and safety of the show. Our contestants are closely monitored and medically supervised.”

But both ex-Losers are in contact with other contestants — there’s a private alumni site on Facebook — and the most scandalous secret, Mendonca says, is that just about everyone’s gained the weight back, herself included.

“NBC never does a reunion,” she says. “Why? Because we’re all fat again!”

That’s not really different than most diets.

I recently read a statistic that 99% of people who try to lose weight do not get slender and stay slender long term. And just as scary is they stated that of those that do get slender 99% gain it back over the next ten years.

I bet you’re a lot like me and have lived that frustration. All that work to lose the weight only to gain it back again.

Last night I woke up around 2:00 AM and did what I know I shouldn’t do…I checked my email. As my wife, Pat, tells me frequently “When you sleep you should actually sleep!”

I saw an email from Virginia that read “I have read the information and find it very helpful thank you”. She was referring to “The Whipple Way” report I did. That report explains why we are overweight and a two week eating plan (with recipes) to let you see if a whole food, plant based diet is for you. And guess what….there is NO CALORIE COUNTING.

And it’s not all about weight loss. When I began eating “The Whipple Way” my cholesterol dropped 81 points in two months. That’s right…only two months without any medication. Just food!

How To Get Back On The Horse?

45% of us make New Year’s Resolutions* but only 8% of us are successful in achieving our resolution. Ever wonder why?

So what’s the top resolution? Right..it’s weight loss.

Most don’t make it past January before throwing in the towel but we’re not most people, are we?

What most people don’t get is this truth.

It really is true that if you don’t quit you can’t fail. The truth is most people fail their way to success. Thomas Edison failed thousands of times before successfully inventing the light bulb which is all anyone remembers…he got there!

And please remember this if you remember nothing else. The person who says “it can’t be done” shouldn’t interrupt the person who is doing it!

So accept that temporary failure is just that…”temporary”… and get back on that horse. But be smart about it.

Whenever you slip up and “fall off the horse” consider what the causes are. There is almost always a “trigger”.

There are tons of triggers but think back to when you deviated from your plan. Maybe you went to a party and ate way too much. Then you beat yourself up the next morning when you stepped on the scale and said…maybe nexy year.

But after you slip go back to the reasons you started in the beginning. Did you use the weightview tool? If you did, look at it again and if not use it. Visualization really does help.

If you don’t have an “accountability buddy” think about finding one. There is strength in numbers.

Have you used a food log? If not download this one. But here’s a different way to use it. Most people keep it as a journal. But if you write down what you plan to eat and the exercise tomorrow your odds of sticking to it skyrocket.

It’s like the “to do” list you write BEFORE you go shopping. If you don’t use a grocery list you will almost always forget some things and buy some things you’ll wish you didn’t. The same is true with a food log!

So if your New Year Resolution hasn’t worked out like you hoped it would let’s agree to reset the clock and make March 1st our New Year! Make sense?

Just remember “You can’t fail if you don’t quit!

In 2016 I am committed to being of more service to you and remembering daily “How Can I Help You?”

Mary had a great suggestion and that was to do a weekly one minute or less tip.

I ran that idea by our community. Paul and Annemarie were quick to respond that they loved the idea so thank you to them and here it is.

This Is Really Scary

This is really scary! What is?

OK.  So each week when I post this video blog I think about how the information is going to help you.  And I hope most weeks I do exactly that.  Your feedback is what tells me whether I succeed or not…so, please, continue or start to leave me your comments.  For those comments…THANKS.

Back to this week’s blog! As I listen to your feedback the number one topic I hear is weight loss.

So I figured I’d do two things.

First, I’d see how big a problem obesity in America really is and, second, what can I do to help people who want to lose weight understand the problem and…more importantly, do something about it.

How big a problem is obesity in America?  To figure that out I headed to the internet and found that the CDC (US Centers For Disease Control & Prevention) has tracked this trend.  And what did I find?

What I found is probably best summed up by the phrase “yamma mamma it’s fright night!”.  But seriously, the trend in obesity and diabetes is crazy and this is really scary.

Watch this week’s short video and I bet you’ll be shocked just like I was.

So, how does any of this help us to tackle this problem?  Good question!

I’ve been asked to put together a plan on how to lose weight the fastest but….safely.

After a lot of work I am really pleased with how this plan came together.  And that plan will be published this week. It has a “jump start” two week meal plan to get you seeing  success quickly in losing the weight you want to lose .

So… if you or anyone you know would like to lose some weight safely I’d love to get this plan into your or their hands.

Is There A Secret To Willpower

Is there a secret to willpower?  Good question!

Last week I posted a blog on belly fat and losing weight from a

a  lecture The Pleasure Trap I heard by Doug Lisle Ph.D.

He explained why we are wired to feel good when we eat foods loaded

The Willpower Paradox on DVD.

This week’s video is a summary of his lecture.

It turns out that the science to the question “Is there a secret to willpower”

doesn’t support it is from Sigmund Freud’s theory of the id and ego (pretty heady stuff)

but rather willpower was shown to be greatly influenced by glucose as the

studies talked about in my video show.

p.s. – Oh yeah, and you gotta love the cord on my reading glasses.  I hear it even

works better if you put the cord behind your neck.
