What is Whole Food Plant Based Nutrition and why is it important to you? Good question!
A lot of us have heard about being a Vegan or Vegetarian but what is whole food plant based
nutrition and what can it do for you. That’s what this week’s video is all about.
Being Vegan or Vegetarian doesn’t mean you’re eating healthy. A lot of college students say they
are vegan…but you could qualify for being vegan by eating Spicy Sweet Chili Doritos
and a couple Buds. Healthy? Probably there are some better choices, right?
What people eat can be as personal as politics and religion so no preaching in this week’s
video. But there is a story in the video about my son and how emotional
people can get about what they eat. It’s worth watching.
So what is whole food plant based nutrition and why is it important to you?
The question that started this.
In a nutshell, it is eating more fruits and vegetables and avoiding those foods that are processed.
Or what many of use used to eat when we sat around the dinner table as kids.
It’s interesting and more than a little scary to learn that less than 3% of Americans make the
grade for achieving the following healthy lifestyle characteristics:
- Not smoking
- Not overweight
- Five servings of fruits and vegetables per day
- Exercising 30 minutes a day; five days a week
And where people fall down the most is nutrition. So let’s take a look at that.
The article Nutritional Update for Physicians: Plant Based Diets {click here for the article} was
published in 2013 by Kaiser Permanente as advice for their 15,000 physicians and is definitely
worth a read!

hello, I also am about to start a juice diet but was wondering if its OK to juice ALL the juice you need for that day in the mnirong instead of having it just juiced when you drink? I don’t think I can juice juice at work thats why I ask and having extra juice on the go would be a way to keep it possible! IDK maybe even juicing a few days in advance? would that work to or does the juice loose the nutrutional value to fast for that? any advice? THANKS! ? and congtrats on your lb loss!!!
Hello:
I wouldn’t juice very much in advance of when you are going to drink it. Why juice? I am more a fan of eating the foods. More fiber and makes you feel more full.
