4 Behaviors That Might Just Let Help Live Longer

Four Behaviors That Might Just Help You Live Longer!

By Uncategorized

This week’s video is on the ten major causes of death in the US and four behaviors that might just help you live longer.

The backdrop of “pushing up daisies” was just a coincidence. LOL.

The “EPIC” ( European Prospective Investigation Into Cancer and Nutrition–Potsdam Study ) study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine studied 23,153 people’s  adherence to 4 simple behaviors:

  • not smoking
  • exercising 3.5 hours a week
  • eating a healthy diet [fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and limited amounts of meat]
  • maintaining a healthy weight [BMI <30]).

In those adhering to these behaviors, 93% of diabetes, 81% of heart attacks, 50% of strokes, and 36% of all cancers were prevented. (2)

Standing Up For Your Health

Standing Up For Your Health

By Uncategorized

This week’s blog is about the dangers of sitting too much.

The other day I spent some time in the woods with a good

friend, Charlie Fritz.  He told me he enjoyed watching these

videos but asked if I could include some action in the videos

rather than just standing or sitting.  Sounded like a good

idea to me, Charlie.  So this week’s video is an easy way

to turn your treadmill into a standing, treadmill desk.

My total cost to transform my treadmill into a treadmill

desk was…drum roll please… ZERO.  See how this was done in the video.

Dr. James Rouse recently did a post on how we are now spending

90%+ of our time indoors and the associated effects.  Conversely, James

explains how getting outdoors for as little as seven minutes

a day had tremendous benefits and some great insights on the

effects of being outdoors on depression.  It is clearly worth

listening to Dr. James’s video post { Click Here } .

After Charlie suggested I incorporate some movement I saw Dr. Greger’s

video on Standing Up For Your Health.  Amazing benefits in standing.

Bears Do Get Big!

When it comes to nutrition and what we eat many of us think we have to be perfect.  I saw a video this week I wanted to share with you.  The bottom line is it is about Progress NOT Perfection!  Most of the time perfection equals paralysis.

If you don’t want to, or think you can’t go Vegan or Vegetarian, what does the science say if you just ate less meat! Dr. Greger’s video answered just that question. Enjoy!

Perfection Equals Paralysis

By Uncategorized

Been battling a bit of a cold this week but in the scheme of adversities it is incredibly minuscule.

But it does remind me that the journey is about progress not perfection. And perfection usually equals paralysis.
